So I had a brilliant idea for candles for the dinner tables at the wedding, or at least something I still think is a brilliant idea (we shall see)! When I was a kid I remember making an 'old fashioned' whole punch tin can candle at Battle Field Square in Stoney Creek, and I thought that making them and then spray painting the cans copper would create a nice rustic and homemade detail to the tables at the reception!
When looking into them online I found the great tip of filling the empty can with water and freezing it before attempting to punch wholes into it with a hammer and nail. This way the can itself doesn't dint and the whole you punch are much more clean!
So I am excited to get started and I already have a bunch of people starting to collect tin cans of all sizes for me! For the tables I mostly want the soup cans - But I also can use bigger cans as well as apple juice cans for the sign in table and for extra decor! So if you would like to donate your tins as well I'm sure I could use them!
Here are some pictures of what they might look like - and I want to do different patterns as well (Hearts, stars etc.) - I also want to put little handles on them as depicted in the centre image:

I was just thinkinig of the same idea for my October 2010 wedding. You'll have to keep us updated on how it turns out!

Fairly easy to make (My dad and groom helped)
and they looked great on the tables and were a nice DIY touch!
